Integrals

Integration is an inverse process of differentiation. A function we are given as its derivative & asked to find its primitive i.e such process is called integration or anti – differentiation.

Area function

The area of shaded region is a function of x and here is denoted by A(x). A(x) is area function.

First fundamental theorem of integral calculus : Let f be a continuous function on the closed interval [a,b] and let A(x) be the area function. Then, A'(x) = f(x) for all [a, b].

Second fundamental theorem of integral calculus: Let f be a continuous function defined on the closed interval [a,b] and F be an anti-derivative of f.
